How to stay on the right path.

Posted on: October 14th, 2013 by ktaylor

Matthew 7:13

English Standard Version (ESV)13 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy[a] that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.

How do we stay on the correct path, what must we do to stay the course? How to allow the light of Jesus to light the path.

* We must pray, I’m not talking about praying our sports team of choice to win,nor am I talking about an” Identity prayer” you know that prayer that simply says here I am Lord ,thank you, Amen. I’m talking about really praying, setting aside time to be alone with Christ. For me I begin with telling Jesus how much I love Him, how much I appreciate the relationship and love He so graciously offers, I continue with telling Him all, although He already knows everything that’s going on in our life He wants to hear from us. Ask Him for guidance and direction, seeking His will, not our wants. Prayer is a must for the strength we need to stay in the center of God’s will, we cannot do it on our own.

* Study God’s word; Set aside time to study, not just verses but chapters and books of the Bible, don’t limit the power and guidance God provides through His Holy word. Allow the word to sink in, take your time there is no need to hurry, enjoy the greatest story ever told. Relate it to your everyday life, it’s not time dated. Share it,

Isaiah 55:11 (NIV)11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

* Surround yourself with other Christians. Allow Christ to plant you in the church of His choice not yours, remember there is a plan.

Hebrews 10:25-27 (NIV)25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you  see the Day approaching.

* Make room for others on the path. If we walk the path without inviting and influencing others to the path are we really walking the path? It’s not just about our walk in the light, but encouraging others to walk with Christ.    Words only serve as the invite but actions encourage the commitment.

Contemplate and study the above content, remember if we spread the word, deliver the message and plant the seed, the Holy Spirit  will stir the emotions.

In Christ

Keith
